About Cabins At Grand Lake

Hello, we are John and Julie Frohrip. Six years ago, we bought our first property at Grand Lake, Shangri-La Estates #552. We wanted a place to get away with our two children Davis, 10 years old, and Madeline who is 8. When we purchased the cabin, it needed a lot of work. It had not been updated since it was built in 1972. (The lime green and metallic silver wallpaper was our favorite) After many late nights working and after spending thousands of dollars in renovation, the cabin turned out great. Little did we know was that the time we shared together at that cabin would create some of our most treasured family memories.

We had one problem though, we didn’t have enough room for all of our extended family and friends. The solution to the problem came in a way that we certainly didn’t expect. In March 2004, John had a horrible accident that made it impossible for us to use the cabin. To offset the expenses, we decided to make the cabin available as a nightly vacation rental. That summer we had people from all over the country stay at our cabin. God used that terrible accident and opened our eyes to a wonderful opportunity. After purchasing more cabins, we not only had plenty of room for family and friends but we also get to help other couples and families make wonderful memories of their own.

Now we have a new problem, when people come to one of our cabins for a get away, they don’t want to leave! We just have to tell them that we will leave wood in the fireplace for them to use on their next visit. We have learned that life is too short to not spend time with the people you love the most.
